WOODLAWN PARK NEWS
July/ August2015

It's been a summer of extremes to say the least. We have had extreme heat with heat indexes reaching into the  triple digits. And we've had monsoons dropping over 5 inches of rain on us in just 4 hours.

But we haven't had cars, homes and neighbors washed away by flash flooding. Or neighbors succumbing to the heat. So all in all even with our flooded basements and dry lawns, we have much to be grateful for.

Yes, Woodlawn Park is a Great place to call HOME!

****

A community is only as strong as its citizen involvement. So I encourage you to find a way to get involved. Be it helping a neighbor in need, serving on a committee or running for office, we ALL have a way we can serve.

Above all if you want to have a good neighbor, be a good neighbor!

Mayor  Lewis

You're always welcome to attend the monthly City Council Meeting. We meet the third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Woodlawn Park City Hall.
It's that time again!

CITY PRIDE & GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD

-Do you have a neighbor that is deserving of the City Pride Award?

-Does their property stand out?

-Have they recently made improvements?

-Have they done that something extra?

The City Pride Award now includes a Good Neighbor Award as well. Many times when a neighbor is recommended for the award it also includes that the neighbor is a good neighbor; so City Pride is now the City Pride & Good Neighbor Award. They do go hand in hand!

To nominate a resident for City Pride, please email Councilmember Donna Rand at r.rand@woodlawnpark.com, provide address and a reason for the nomination.

Chief Heaton's Corner
  • We're still receiving reports that people are running the stop sign at Green Meadow Circle and Green Meadow Court. Remember it only takes a second for a child to dart out into the street on their bike or chasing a ball and disaster can strike. Stop signs and traffic laws are in place for a reason. Unfortunately I can't be at all places at all times. PLEASE obey these signs and laws. You don't want be the cause of a tragedy simply because you were in a hurry or distracted while driving.
  • Please be courteous to all of your neighbors at all times.
  • Make sure your house numbers are visible from the street.
  • Contact Chief Heaton on his cell if you need him, (502) 439-6545.
  • Always call 911 for emergencies!

MSD Drainage Easement
Image

Sometimes out of site is out of mind. But if you have a drainage easement along the back of your property you are responsible for the maintenance of the easement just as you are for the rest of your property.

Tall grass and weeds as well as discarded debris can impede the flow of water. Not  to mention it makes for a breeding ground for mosquitoes as well as other pest.
