WOODLAWN PARK NEWS
June2015

In recognition of Police Week, a long and distinguished law enforcement career and dedicated seroce to the City of Woodlawn Park, May 31, 2015 was proclaimed Chief Robert L. Heaton Day.

No city is 100% crime free (not even Mayberry), but our city enjoys one of if not the lowest crime rate among our sister cities. I believe this is due in large part to Chief Heaton's total focus and patrol is on Woodlawn Park. Many of our sister cities either share police coverage with other cities or have no patrol coverage at all. Chief Heaton and "Big Blue'  patrolling our streets is a great deterrent to a would be criminal looking for easy pickings.

If you get the opportunity take a minute and thank Chief Heaton for his service.

A community is only as strong as its citizen involvement. So I encourage you to find a way to get involved. Be it helping a neighbor in need, serving on a committee or running for office, we ALL have a way we can serve.

Above all if you want to have a good neighbor, be a good neighbor!

Let's have a happy and safe summer!

Mayor  Lewis

CITY PRIDE & GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD

Image

Do you have a neighbor that is deserving of the City Pride Award?

Does their property stand out?

Have they recently made improvements?

Have they done that something extra?

The City Pride Award now includes a Good Neighbor Award as well. Many times when a neighbor is recommended for the award it also includes that the neighbor is a good neighbor; so City Pride is now the City Pride & Good Neighbor Award. They do go hand in hand!

To nominate a resident for City Pride, please email Councilmember Donna Rand at r.rand@woodlawnpark.com, provide address and a reason for the nomination.

MSD Drainage Easement
Image

Sometimes out of site is out of mind. But if you have a drainage easement along the back of your property you are responsible for the maintenance of the easement just as you are for the rest of your property.

Tall grass and weeds as well as discarded debris can impede the flow of water. Not  to mention it makes for a breeding ground for mosquitoes as well as other pest.
