WOODLAWN PARK NEWS & UPDATES- SEPTEMBER 2014
Image
Dear Residents,

Labor Day is here! It won't be long and the leaves will begin to change on the trees. Kids are back in school and on that note please be careful in the mornings to watch for all school buses and children on our streets.
The next edition of our newsletter will be mailed to all residents the week of October 20th. Even though this E-News is a great form of communication it does not reach every resident, so every October we mail the newsletter.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for keeping your properties looking nice. I know every yard is not perfect, however we have come a long way..... many residents have added landscape and mow their yards on a regular basis. Take a look around this fall and enjoy the beauty of our fine City.

As always remember to be a good neighbor!

     Have a great September!

Mayor Brown

CITY PRIDE & GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD

Image

AUGUST 2014 WINNER:

4250 Westport Terrace

Susan Pernosky

.... for new and updated landscaping. She is also a great neighbor!

Steven Barnhouse of Ahland Road recommended Susan Pernosky for the award!

To nominate a resident for City Pride, please email mayor@woodlawnpark.com, provide address and a reason for the nomination.

Beginning in August the City Pride Award now includes a Good Neighbor Award as well. Many times when a neighbor is recommended for the award it also includes that the neighbor is a good neighbor; so City Pride is now becoming the City Pride & Good Neighbor Award. They do go hand in hand! A listing of all our City Pride Awards since 2011 will be listed in the mailed October newsletter.

Make sure to check that the local government tax is going to Woodlawn Park on your insurance bills.......

Ordinance Number 3, Series 1990-1991 imposes a License Fee upon Insurance Companies for the privilege of engaging in the business of insurance within the corporate limits of the City of Woodlawn Park.  This includes homeowners, car insurance and first year premiums of life insurance.   This ordinance has been difficult to enforce because of the city dynamics and the number of insurance companies issuing policies. The problem has arisen where many residents are not making their insurance company aware of the proper direction of the tax fee.

Print this out and attach to your next insurance bill payment, or call your insurance agent directly to advise of your correct local government.

Please properly direct the Local Government Tax for this customer to the City of Woodlawn Park, KY.  Zip Code is 40207.

FOR QUESTIONS

Contact the city treasurer by mail via C. Veeneman CPA, 2527 Nelson Miller Parkway / Louisville, KY 40223-3161

Contact the city treasurer by phone at 502-244-5043.

Please help us solve this situation and help your city collect thousands of dollars that are being routed to St. Matthews or other municipalities in error.  Your insurance rates WILL NOT change.  This tax fee is already being paid as part of your bill.  It is merely a matter of misdirection of these funds.  You can simply call your insurance company or detach the cut-out below and attach to your next payment.

City Hall- Getting new windows
Image
Part of this fiscal year budget that was approved by the City Council included new windows for the City Hall. The new windows have been motioned and approved by the Mayor. The new window project will begin around October 16th. Part of our responsibility is to maintain the City Hall and do what we can to keep costs down for our operating expenses. This addition of new windows will lower our energy bills for City Hall. Window World was the chosen vendor.

FENCE, SHED AND BUILDING PERMITS
Make sure you contact Councilperson Tom Nunn at 893-0810 before constructing a fence, shed or any building. Permits are $10 and can be easily obtained by contacting Tom.
