WOODLAWN PARK NEWS & UPDATES- JULY
2014
|
Dear Residents,
Happy 4th of
July to all of you! Speaking of the 4th, please use caution or do not let off any illegal fireworks for that matter. It has been so dry lately, I wanted to let everyone know to please use caution with any of your 4th of July plans. The last thing we need is to have a fire caused by some fireworks. Also, keep in
mind that if you do let off fireworks, please finish them by 10PM.
Also,
a simple reminder to all of you regarding our trash pick up: - PLEASE do not set your cans out on the street until after 6PM on Sunday evenings.
- PLEASE remember to bring your cans in by Monday night.
Lastly, many thanks to all of you who go over and beyond to make our city shine and a
great place to live!
Don't forget, you can always check out and keep up with the city council monthly minutes online by clicking here!
As always remember to be a good neighbor!

Mayor Brown not running for 2nd term
|
Dear Residents, I just wanted to let each of you know that I have decided not to run for the second term of Mayor this November. I greatly appreciate the
opportunity to have worked with each of you over the last four years. I am also forever grateful that many of you supported me to be your Mayor even after the 2010 episode in my life. If you remember, three days after I was sworn into office I had that ugly hemorrhagic stroke that took me about six months to overcome. I have always appreciated the City Council for not rushing into anything during that time. I am confident that we have accomplished quite a bit in four years including city pride and morale! I hope I am most remembered by my sense of bringing a positive attitude to the city government. I gave this decision a lot of thought and processed it for many weeks including taking a vacation. It's never easy leaving a city government position- just look around and notice how many politicians stay
in the same seat year after year. I had no intentions of staying more than one term; however, after getting more involved and meeting many of you; I started to think about a second term but have since discarded that idea as a possibility. It has truly been a very humbling experience for me. Please consider putting your name in for City Council or for the Mayor elections. No experience is
necessary!
I am sure I will attend future City Council meetings from time to time. I will still offer to organize the annual yard sale. I will be available to the next Mayor for a nice smooth transition and I will remain as Mayor until the end of my term which is December this year. Thanks to each of you for all you have done for the
City of Woodlawn Park! Mayor Mike Brown
Make sure to check that the local government tax is going to Woodlawn Park on your insurance bills.......

Ordinance Number 3, Series 1990-1991 imposes a License Fee upon Insurance Companies for the privilege of engaging in the business of insurance within the corporate limits of the City of Woodlawn Park. This includes homeowners, car insurance and first year premiums of life insurance.
This ordinance has been difficult to enforce because of the city dynamics and the number of insurance companies issuing policies. The problem has arisen where many residents are not making their insurance company aware of the proper direction of the tax fee. Please help us solve this situation and help your city collect thousands of dollars that are being
routed to St. Matthews or other municipalities in error. Your insurance rates WILL NOT change. This tax fee is already being paid as part of your bill. It is merely a matter of misdirection of these funds. You can simply call your insurance company or detach the cut-out below and attach to your next payment. Print this out and attach to your next insurance
bill payment, or call your insurance agent directly to advise of your correct local government.
Please properly direct the Local Government Tax for this customer to the City of Woodlawn Park, KY. Zip Code is 40207. FOR QUESTIONS Contact the city treasurer by mail via C. Veeneman CPA, 2527 Nelson Miller Parkway / Louisville, KY 40223-3161 Contact the city treasurer by phone at 502-244-5043.
