Mayor Applauds Residents and Tree Debris Update
Published: Tue, 07/16/13
residents for working together by helping out your neighbors and
for working hard to get the tree debris removed. It seems that
Westport Terrace and Beechwood Roads were the hardest hit and as of
yesterday afternoon there were only 8 residents that still had
debris in their yards.
We are asking all residents to get there yard waste debris
to meet these restrictions to take advantage of next Monday's
yard waste.
The city is not planning on having a special debris pick up.
Special thanks to all of you who took care of your tree debris
through our waste vendor or on your own.
I wanted to remind everyone that the city spends a total of $5400
per month for trash collection that includes yard waste. Here are
the yard waste restrictions:
Peak yard waste season is here with leaves, branches etc. Please
note they can only pick up a maximum of (15) fifteen yard
waste bags per week...no more than 50lbs , strong enough
not to tear when picked up or (7) tied branch bundles - no more
than 4 ft long, branches cannot exceed 6" in diameter, bundle
cannot weigh more than 50lbs. Branches in carts must be cut down
and
cannot extend more than 12" above the cart rim and no more than
50lbs. We have had cases where customers have lawn services and set
out as many as 75-100 bags curbside and expect them to be picked up
on that weeks service day. With our limitation of D.O. T. hours our
employees cannot be on the road in excess of that limitation and
the need to service thousands of homes per day and not be out until
late
night we must limit the amount of pickup. Also note that branches
twigs cannot be more than 6" in diameter or 4 ft. in length and
must be tied or bundled , not thrown loose at the curb. Landscape
timbers , firewood are not considered yard waste. If a container is
used for yard waste it must be marked /labeled " Yard
Waste".
