To keep in line with our beautification mission of the city, new signage will be installed throughout beginning with a new entrance sign at each of the 6 entrances (Perryman, Ahland, Beechwood, Westport Ter, Walser and Ambridge Cir) These new 18 x 24 welcome signs will replace the existing signs we currently have to remind visitors they are entering our city and the speed limit is 25 mph and we have no on street parking. 

There will be 6 new No Parking signs scattered throughout, 6 new Speed Limit signs and 6 new Neighborhood Watch signs. Many of the signs we currently had were weather worn as they had not been replaced in more than 20 years. We may add more if we feel the need is present.

The City Council has been discussing speeding options over the last several months. Chief Wilson has done his fair share of bringing in LMPD's radar machine as well as placing our radar machine in various places throughout the city as well as being more and more visible in the speeding areas to try and deter speeding, however, we still have some residents going over 30 mph and that's too fast to be travelling especially with as many walkers and children we have in our city.

At our monthly March City Council meeting the following decisions were made that will take place sometime after July 1st, 2025:

1. There will be a temporary speed hump placed on Kinloch Road. This may lead to a permanent speed hump being installed on Kinloch at a later time depending on if speeding continues.
2. There will be two new stop signs placed at Walser and Alicent. They will be placed on Walser (one heading north and one heading south). This intersection will become a 4- way stop. The additional stop signs that were placed on Beechwood Road have reduced the speed considerably since those have been installed, so we are hopeful the same will happen on Walser.

As the mayor, I will always be thankful to George for all he gave to this city. When it rained hard you would always find him outside cleaning out culverts in Green Meadow Cir. He would always be willing to lend helping hand to anyone! We were fortunate to have him serve our city for so long and we hope to continue to see him around in the years to come!

Both the 2022 and 2023 audits have been completed and both came back with the opinion from the auditor with no issues of non compliance nor any issues with internal control.
