Can I ask a favor? Can each of you download this app on your phone today? It's called "RECYCLE COACH"! I need 20 or more residents to download the app so Woodlawn Park then qualifies for many incentives regarding recycling tips and announcements. So far, I have 13 residents that have downloaded it. My goal is to get 1/2 the city or more to download the app so we can show the Solid Waste Management Services of Louisville Metro that we want to become a city that
cares about the environment! It's FREE and it only takes about a minute of your time.
Winter Seems to Have Taken Over!
Let's face it, Winter is here with a vengeance! Snow, sleet, ice, and everything in between- we have had it this year. The city's snow removal budget has been exceeded for sure. Each time the vendor salts the 6 miles of our streets there is a cost of $1,750. Not every event requires plowing, however, when it snows more than 2" a
plowing cost of $2,450 is applied. We will be reporting an amended budget sometime near late April as our total snow removal budget of $12,000 has definitely been exceeded. Thanks Mother Nature!
With that said, however, with the changes we have made to revenue (with the insurance tax increase and removing the property tax discount) in the past couple of years, the city finances remain strong!

CITY PRIDE AWARD
This month's City Pride Award is awarded to Bob and Mary Forseth of 6879 Green Meadow Circle. For years, they have kept their property and home well groomed. The yard and their home are always looking great. You can tell they certainly take a lot of pride living here in our city!
Each month the Mayor names a City Pride Award winner. If you'd like to recommend a resident or yourself, please email mayor@woodlawnpark.com.
I wrote a letter to St. Matthews City Council
Re: 4251 Westport Road rezoning
Here are a few bullets of what I said:
I have no issue with the new proposed plastic surgery center that will be built across from the Perryman intersection.
I have major concerns about the St. Matthews City Council moving forward with an affirmative vote without first having the
traffic plan approved by the state of Kentucky that will ensure traffic will improve and not worsen.
I am against a proposed daycare that would be built across the street from Ahland Road. (This has not yet been announced with a public meeting, but I thought it would be important for them to know I am against this.)
I will support the decision of the St. Matthews City Council as I believe in our city governing processes.
The Middle Housing proposal to the Louisville Metro Council has lost speed. As I told you last month I would keep you abreast of what I know and hear. Well, I'm hearing there has been quite a bit of push back from the community and the council. And thus, I'm guessing this might not happen as Metro thought it may. As I hear more, I will keep you posted.
We are encouraging all residents to think about adding a tree or two this coming year. Please email James at falltrees502@icloud.com for
more information about the type of tree you might consider adding to your property.
AERIAL PHOTOS
A couple photos passed on to me from Carl Armijo, our videographer who did our 70th year video- he drove by one day last week and took a couple aerials of our city. Enjoy! :-)
Did You know?
It takes 8,000 pounds of salt to treat our roads during a snow event.
City wide yard sale will be Saturday, May 10th from 8am until 1pm.
Junk Pick up Day will be Saturday, May 17th. All items need to be out on the street by 6am on that
day!
New city Entrance signs, No Parking signs, and Neighborhood Watch signs are coming this spring!
The new LED lights (that allow more lumens to point downward vs. the others that lose a lot of their light upward) are up and running at each city entrance and this offers a new sense of safety and cost
savings.
Please keep reminding your neighbors especially if they are new to sign up for this email and Reach Alert on our website to get important information about our city!
