Monthly News Update

Our speed limit has been 25 mph since we have been incorporated in 1954. Our Police Chief has pulled over almost 25 cars going faster than 30 mph on different streets of our city in the last month or so.

The city council will have a 1st reading of amending the ordinance to lessen our speed limit to 20 mph in November. This should be effective by the 1st of the year. We will notify you once the amended ordinance has been passed and approved.

We really need for everyone to slow down and go the speed limit before someone gets hurt. Lowering the speed limit is a much better option than installing speed humps throughout the city.

70th Anniversary Update!

Our anniversary video should be completed by mid November
The large banners along Westport Road should be installed in the next couple of weeks. The smaller banners throughout the city should also be installed.
We need some help painting our light poles on Saturday, November 2nd at 10am. Please come to city hall if you can help roll some of the poles. The city will supply the paint and rollers.
Vintage t-shirts are available for sale at $20 per t-shirt. Please contact the police chief for a t-shirt.

CITY PRIDE AWARD

is being awarded to 4400 Alicent Road for October!

Join us at the December City Council meeting Monday, December 16th for some fun and community. There will be a brief meeting at 7pm. and Salsaritas will cater us a meal at about 7:20pm. We ask that all residents and your families that would like to attend RSVP (502) 895-6620 by Sunday, December 8th. Please enter extension 101 and leave us your name, address and how many will be attending. Mayor Mike Brown will also hand out the State of the City that evening.

Chili/Fall Social a huge success! About 60 residents attended the event this 2nd year! Special thanks to John Keeling with LMPD for showing up with the LMPD golf cart to provide rides for the children and some adults too!

NOISE ORDINANCE WARNING!

A couple years ago our noise ordinance was amended to reflect that if any noise that could be heard 50' away from your property you would be in violation of this ordinance. Fireworks, music, automobiles, motorcycles, all apply. Please be respectful of your neighbors.

Did you know?

That all garbage cans should be returned by 4pm the next day off the street.

That Woodlawn Park turns 70 this year.

That you should never in any circumstances park in the yard.

No More Additional Air BnB's in Woodlawn Park

Let this serve as a reminder that Woodlawn Park's short term rental ordinance was recently amended. Short term rentals are now permitted by only those hosts who as of the date of the enacted amended ordinance (September 18, 2023), were registered for a short term rental under sections 1 and 2 of our original ordinance. In addition, hosts must be in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations described in Section 3 of the original ordinance.

In summary, Woodlawn Park has only one Short term rental on Darbrook that is eligible. Anyone else renting out their home for less than 30 days per year would be in violation of this Airbnb ordinance and will be subject to a possible citation.
